Cerulean Blue | Feature

An introvert's urgent road trip to reclaim his lost love is derailed when he meets a free-spirited woman who challenges all of his ideals.

Available on Stan in Australia, and Amazon Prime in the US and UK.

“Mismatched travelling companions reveal long-held secrets, broken hearts and unexpected connections during an eye-opening drive to Melbourne in this understated drama – an independent debut feature from local director Adrian Ortega."

Introverted, coping with obsessive compulsive disorder and chasing a memory from the past, Alex is determined to drive cross-country to Melbourne. Planning on only having the winding highway for company, he reluctantly picks up Lily, a high-spirited hitchhiker running from something with as much determination as Alex is running to something.

Ortega has crafted Cerulean Blue into an engaging, keenly observed road trip. As well as boasting stunning cinematography and spirited performances, this nuanced two-hander astutely questions and undermines familiar gender clichés; adding some extra fuel to the leisurely and melancholic film’s tank.”

“Jack Michel stars as Alex and absolutely nails his role as an introverted and awkward young man struggling through life…
…I’ll also be following Jack Michel as I feel he will have a bright future ahead of him. “

I Like You | Short

A short film that acts as a voice for women and survivors of sexual assault, honing in on the ripple effect it has on communities.

A2_ILY_Poster_Print_Bleed (1) (1).jpg

Set in a rural Australian town, I Like You is a short film that addresses the devastating ripple effect that an incident of sexual assault can have upon its victim and their surrounding community.

Grace, a woman in her early twenties, is comfortably living in her home town. The routine of country life dictates Grace's days, and we find that she is just like her friends and family: partaking in the Australian pastimes of sports and binge drinking through boredom. In this close-knit community your friends are your family; your door is always open, and trust is the common thread that ties the community together. However, when Grace's friend Will, the golden boy of the town, takes advantage of her, he cuts this common thread and the community unravels.

In 2010, Jack teamed up with animator/creator Michael Cusack - of YouTubes “Yolo”, “Damo & Darren (aka Ciggy-Butt Brain)” , ABC’s “Koala Man” - to produce Michael’s directorial debut, live-action feature, All Night Gaming. This indie dark-comedy epic, set in Wollongong, Australia, was created with Jack in the leading role, as the under motivated high schooler, Jamie; and was Co-Produced by Jack alongside Michael and sound engineer/composer Brendan Caulfield.

Although this film has garnered much interest from the online community, an official release was never made until recently. Due to COVID 19, Jack, Michael and Brendan decided to do a silent free release of the film, online for those at home during the crisis.
